Vine Trumpet

This big flower grows up to 4.1 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its orange-yellow stem is thin and splits into 8 branching stems halfway up, and the large, emerald leaves are fan-like with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

2 to 7 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 65 cm (25.6 inches) wide, with petals that are washed-out yellow on the edges and blue at the center. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 16 tightly layered, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like ashes, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
