Serpentine Fruit Tree

This large fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the very dense wood is burgundy.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bronze at the bottom and azure with peach edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, amber blossoms with fan-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like apple.

In early autumn it produces , long, tapering fruit. The crispy grey skin is thin and spicy, and the very soft lime flesh is extremely savoury and dry. The slate seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
