Vinefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 67 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of giant, long, tapering leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are generally gold.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of small, grey blossoms with 2 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cheap aftershave.

In late summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The clammy red skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is extremely savoury, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is slightly salty and very juicy. The slate seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
The leaves are bland but very healthy.
It comes in 63 varieties.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
