Bloodleaf

This modest-sized tree grows up to 29 meters (95.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 558 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in thick, cracked, brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of waxy, huge, asymmetrical leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are crimson on the sides and deep yellow at the center.

In late summer it forms small, blood red berries.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
