Burgundy Willow

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 37 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many flexible, straight stems covered in waxy, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, finger-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either vivid orange, or crimson with deep yellow edges, flimsy and waxy.

In mid-spring it produces several medium-sized, gold flowers with pleated petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like pepper.
