Amberfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The thin clumps of branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of tiny, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or silver, with yellow patches.

In early spring, it produces many giant, turquoise blossoms with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like a damp log.

In early autumn it produces large, oval fruit. The leathery lime skin is peel-able and sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy blood red flesh is sweet and dry. The white seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
