Clinging Amberfruit

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, brown bark, and inside, the light wood is silver.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of huge, needle-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are amber and indigo.

In early spring, it produces bunches of large, amber blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like candle wax.

In mid-autumn it produces small, cuboid fruit. The hairy magenta skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft brilliant blue flesh is bitter and oily. The dark grey seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
