Twistwillow

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in waxy, yellow bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of small, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan or crimson, with white zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, vibrant purple blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late summer it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The smooth caramel skin is thin and bitter, and the soft brilliant blue flesh is bitter and powdery. The green seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
