Cliffvine Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.

The sparse patches of branches are long and thin and are covered with small bunches of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are azure and indigo.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, vivid purple blossoms with 7 oval-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like chocolate.

In mid-summer it produces , oval fruit. The hairy green skin is tough and sweet, and the very soft green flesh is extremely savoury and powdery. The dark grey seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
