Coniapple

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in fine, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The small bunches of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, long, narrow leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are generally gold.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, lilac blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like paint.

In mid-summer it produces small, circular fruit. The leathery white skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft slate flesh is savoury and juicy. The beige seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
