Waterleaf Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 96 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several narrow, wonky stems covered in silky, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, long, tapering, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in magenta, blood red and bright orange varieties, strong and clammy.

In late summer it produces thick bunches of large, slate flowers with oblong shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like cheese.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for making paper
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
The leaves and petals are often used to make tea.
