Copperwood Tree

This massive fruit tree grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, angular trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are very long and slender and are covered with large amounts of giant, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are light brown and caramel.

In early spring, it produces many small, bright orange blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like pine needles.

In early winter it produces , C-shaped fruit. The sticky silver skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the crunchy bronze flesh is sour and very juicy. The red seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
