Bloodthorn Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The wide stem is dark brown, and is covered in sharp spines. The stocky, vivid green trunk can grow to as much as 12 feet (3.7 meters) in diameter. Its red or hazel branches are short, rigid and upright.

The ripped-edged, spear shaped leaves are blood red on the edges and white at the center. They are tough, but easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 6 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with dark brown petals on the lower layer and copper petals decorated with red dots on the inner layer. The central disk is purple grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the blue flesh is rough, and the white sap is thin.

It is suitable for making paper
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It can survive a very long time without water.
