Vinefruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 44 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, angular trunk covered in smooth, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of miniature, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the edges and white at the center.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, slate blossoms with 4 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have no scent.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The rough purple skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is sour and very juicy. The vivid green seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
