Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short bine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 20 feet (6.1 meters)0. It prefers to grow on rock formations.
It takes 2 months for the bronze or vivid green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and are smooth and waxy.
The broad, flat, rough leaves reach up to 3 inches (8 cm) in length. They are found in beige and red varieties, and have ripped edges.
During late spring, the bine produces a thick sheet of small beige flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces lots of small seed pods.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
