Clinging Mahogany

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 302 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow-brown.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of rough, small, 3 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate and lime.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, bold orange blossoms with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like pine needles.

In late summer it forms small, magenta aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
