Aquafruit Tree

This large fruit tree grows up to 35 feet (10.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 72 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in fine, cracked, gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in aquamarine, bronze and green varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, lilac blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The clammy lilac skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sour, and the slightly crunchy purple flesh is savoury and juicy. The caramel seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
