Waterstem Pine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 18 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of slender, crooked stems covered in delicate, rough, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, stiff, pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either grey, or peach with bronze patches, robust and sticky.

It produces many balls of giant, crimson flowers with long, narrow petals. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like a newborn baby. In late winter it forms smallgreen, shelled seeds.
