Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of rigid black spines. The bulbous, pastel green trunk can grow to as much as 25 feet (7.6 meters) in diameter. Its brown branches are short stubs.
The irregular-edged, sickle shaped leaves are light grey on the sides and blood red at the center. They are robust, and detach easily.
It is steady-growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are purple on the underside and brown on the top grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has the faintest scent that smells like old books.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the gentle orange flesh is sticky, and the grey sap is thin.
