Twistwood

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of small, thick leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid lime with indigo splotches.

In early spring, it produces clusters of small, subtle blue blossoms with long, tapering petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like rotten eggs.

In mid-autumn it produces small, triangular fruit. The clammy olive skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft light grey flesh is spicy and very juicy. The dark grey seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
