Twistvine

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its yellow stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the tiny, brown leaves are grey on the underside and are thin with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 6 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 23 cm (9.1 inches) wide, with petals that are crimson on the edges and blue at the center. The flower head is largely flat with 7 raised narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like vanilla, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
