Waterstem Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 84 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several long and flexible, curved stems covered in knobbly, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either bronze or caramel, with black dots, hardy and clammy.

In late summer it produces large amounts of medium-sized, gentle red flowers with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old shoes.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
