Twistvine Maple
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 9 meters (29.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 238 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in smooth, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of sticky, miniature, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of copper that gradient shifts to red at the top.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, washed-out yellow, shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
