Carmine Sicklefern

This short leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The sickle shaped stem is silver, and is dotted with small orange spines. The thick leaves are caramel and florescent red. Large amounts of them grow on flat, pink-red branches that are very short and thin. The leaves are rigid, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very slow growing, taking 7 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are generally slate; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 46 raised, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like sweat.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the crimson flesh is waxy, and the bronze sap is thin.
