Brown Moorland Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In moorlands.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is overwhelmingly frail; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald circular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is overwhelmingly resistant to fire damage.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
