Dampwillow

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 81 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, wonky trunk covered in very thick, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy.

The small clumps of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of huge, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of azure that gradient shifts to indigo at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, bronze blossoms with kidney-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like damp.

In late summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy silver skin is thin and inedible, and the soft white flesh is sour and syrupy. The dark grey seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
