This violet or pink moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is very robust.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
