Clinging Ivy

Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 31 feet (9.4 meters) and growing as high as 34 feet (10.4 meters).

It takes 9 months for the brown stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and are tough and woody.

The asymmetrical, smooth leaves reach up to 10 inches (25 cm) in length. They are found in brilliant green, pale orange and hazel varieties, and have tattered edges.

During late spring, the vine produces thick bunches of small dark brown flowers.


It is suitable for use as a construction material
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
