Silverleaf Maple
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 21 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of narrow, wavy stems covered in hard, knobbly, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is silver.
The branches are short and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of giant, wide, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are red and gold, light and rough.
It produces lots of medium-sized, grey flowers with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like rainy days. In midwinter it forms tinycrimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and can be used to make numerous baked goods.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
