Twistvine

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 110 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is gray.

The tangled mess of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of fuzzy, tiny, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally magenta.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, pink blossoms with many layers of petals. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like ashes.

In late summer it forms large, brown, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
