Coniapple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thick, waxy, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with small amounts of giant, fan-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are indigo and blood red.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of medium-sized, brown blossoms with fan-like petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like baby powder.

In early summer it produces , needle-like fruit. The hairy red skin is peel-able and sweet and sour, and the very soft hazel flesh is salty and oily. The brown seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
