Clinging Bellfruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is dark brown.

The small handful of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small bunches of giant, wide leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue at the bottom and olive with caramel zig-zags at the top.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, olive blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like glue.

In early summer it produces , long, curved fruit. The smooth brilliant red skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is extremely spicy, and the soft hazel flesh is sour and very dry. The slate seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for making strong rope
