Waterstem Fruit Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 58 feet (17.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wonky trunk covered in fine, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The thick clumps of branches are very long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of giant, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in gold and bold purple varieties.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, olive blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In early summer it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The smooth sky blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is sour and syrupy. The brown seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
