Magenta

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its green stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the tiny, orange leaves are fan-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with white petals that gradient shift to magenta on the outer edge. The central disk is washed-out green. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like sugar, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
