Copperfern

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 39 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several flexible, curved stems covered in hard, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of small, thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in black and dull orange varieties, durable and clammy.

In early summer it produces dozens of small, green flowers with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like rotting meat.
