It takes 4 years for the light brown or orange stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and remain soft and fleshy.
The teardrop-shaped, clammy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are either pale orange, or turquoise with purple zig-zags, and have smooth edges.
During late spring, the creeper produces lots of average orange flowers.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
