Indigo Climber

This large bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 431 feet (131.4 meters) and growing as high as 22 feet (6.7 meters).

It takes 5 years for the copper or sky blue stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 11 inches (28 cm) and are rough and fibrous.

The stiff, pointed, crispy leaves reach up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) in length. They are indigo at the bottom and dark brown with silver streaks at the top, and have irregular edges.

During late spring, the bine produces balls of average yellow flowers, and during the late summer, after flowering, it produces plenty of large seed pods.
