Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 65 feet (19.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in thin, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the light wood is white.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, teardrop-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze, lime and bold orange varieties.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, violet blossoms with 4 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like a woman.

In early autumn it produces large, long, tapering fruit. The rough cream skin is stretchy and sour, and the slightly crunchy cream flesh is savoury and very dry. The olive seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
