Purple Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in delicate, waxy, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow-brown.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of large, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in subtle orange and hazel varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, bright purple blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In early autumn it produces , cuboid fruit. The soft blue skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sour, and the slightly crunchy pink flesh is savoury and juicy. The beige seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
