Golden Spruce

It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in fine, silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.
The branches trail down across the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with sparse amounts of miniature, yellow-green needles. The needles themselves are tough.
In late summer it produces medium-sized, orange, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is frequently struck by lightning.
