Crimson Clinger

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big flower grows up to 6.0 feet (1.8 meters) tall. Its red stem is very thin and splits into 8 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, grey or crimson leaves are spear shaped with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with petals that are aquamarine on the edges and peach at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 curved petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like perfume, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
