Indigo Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 31 meters (101.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 287 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in thick, cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very short and thick and are covered with small bunches of smooth, miniature, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid ashy blue or caramel, with indigo patches.

In late summer it forms tiny, light yellow, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is frequently struck by lightning.
