Crimson Succulent

This short cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 4 perforated stems. Each stem is silver, and is covered in dozens of fine, crimson, hair-like spines.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid brown petals and a red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 7 tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like meat.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the dark grey flesh is slimy, and the orange sap is thin.
