This orange-yellow moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In heathlands, In rainy mountain ranges, and In rainforests.
It is colossal, growing up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely resilient; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald V-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It actively smothers and kills off other plants.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
