Indigo Flower

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is very thick and straight, and the small, cream and copper leaves are asymmetrical with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 9 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are indigo on the underside and green on the top. The flower head is made up of 28 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cube. They are hardy.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like wet dog, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
