Sunset Glow

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This colossal flower grows up to 11.8 feet (3.6 meters) tall. Its pink-red stem is wispy and splits into 9 branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the huge, orange-yellow leaves are thin with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two small flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 69 cm (27.2 inches) wide, with petals that are dark brown in the center, intense yellow in the middle and indigo at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with 52 raised round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like roses, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
