Bluefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with handfuls of miniature, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in white and aquamarine varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, hazel blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They are sturdy and have no scent.

In late summer it produces , oblong fruit. The hairy florescent blue skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is salty and juicy. The red seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
