Red Petal Vine

This huge flower grows up to 12.0 feet (3.7 meters) tall. Its lime green stems grow in bunches of 6 and are very thin and straight, and the tiny, moss green leaves are cylindrical with toothed edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 92 cm (36.2 inches) wide, with petals that are black on the edges and drab red at the center. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. They are sturdy.

It has an intense scent that smells like varnish, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
