Red Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 69 feet (21.0 meters) tall. The perforated stem is dark green or peach, and is covered in thousands of flexible bold red spines. It has a straight, flat, orange trunk atop a wide mess of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are wide and silver and are tall, rigid and upright.

The toothed-edged, long, narrow leaves are either drab red or black, with olive edges. They are flimsy, and easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 18 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid lime petals decorated with peach dots and a red central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like vomit.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the grey flesh is rough, and the white sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
