Azureberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in hard, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are azure and amber.

In early spring, it produces many giant, silver blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like pot-purri.

In late summer it produces , spherical fruit. The rough dark brown skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy azure flesh is spicy and oily. The crimson seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It blooms only at night.
